COURSE INFORMATION
Arlington Greens Golf Course consists of an 18 hole, par 72 facility with a length of approximately 7,200 yards. The terrain is gently undulating to near level. Each hole has yardages for gold, blue, and white tees that point directly down the fairway with little misdirection. Fairways are irrigated with a double row irrigation system which has recently been upgraded. Fairways consist almost entirely of Bermuda grass. |

Course Designer
Robert Bruce Harris

|
The first president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Gilman, Ill., native Harris worked as a landscape designer before he laid out his first course, the Hubbard Trail Country Club in Hoopeston, Ill., in 1927. After World War II, Harris devoted his career to golf course architecture and became a leader in the profession. By the 1950s, he was busy designing courses throughout the Midwest and the South. It is estimated that he planned or remodeled over 150 during his career, including Midwest Country Club in Oak Brook, Hillcrest Country Club in Long Grove, and Midlane Country Club in Wadsworth. Harris also trained a number of successful architects, including Lawrence Packard, David Gill, Richard Nugent, Kenneth Killian, Richard Phelps and William Spear. He was co-author, along with Robert Trent Jones, of the influential chapter on course design that appeared in the first edition (1950) of H. Burton Musser's “Turf Management”. |

Description of Holes
The staff at Arlington Greens are very proud of our facility, inside and out. Here is a description of our holes.
Hole 1: 450 yds par 4 Wow right out of the gates this 450 yd par 4 will get your heart pumping, bunker on the right off the tee and 2 green side bunkers.
Hole 2: 515 yds par 5. Dogleg left If you lay up there is a fairway bunker 100 yds out. First possible birdie hole.
Hole 3: 350 yds par 4. Dogleg left Another dog leg left with trouble on the left side and green side bunkers.
Hole 4: 165 yds par 3 Beautiful hole that you can admire and get a big score, if your not careful
Hole 5: 400 yds par 4 Our # 4 handicap hole . Your drive must carry the water, which is 240 yds off the tee. Then the fun begins
Hole 6: 500 yds par 5 3 bunkers surround this tough green to putt.
Hole 7: 455 yds par 4 If you drive the ball straight there is not much trouble.
Hole 8: 185 yds par 3 This plays every bit of 185 yds from the back tees. To most golfers 185 is not a yardage they want. Maybe a 4 is not so bad.
Hole 9: 465 yds par 4 A mere 465 yds to the coolest and refreshing snack bar on this side of the river. The only problem this hole is our #2 handicap hole. Maybe you will need extra mustard by the time your putt drops.
Hole 10: 380 yds par 4 Back to why you like this game. A short straight hole. Enjoy the homes on your left. These folks really support us.
Hole 11: 485 yds par 5 This is truly a neat hole as long as you can make the ball go left when ever you want , then make it go right, then make it get up over the fairway bunker and the sit on the green covered by 2 bunkers.
Hole 12: 375 yds par 4 Gives your heart a breather , nice simple hole, enjoy because that won't last long.
Hole 13: 185 yds par 3 If you have a camera maybe your friend can take a picture of your ball almost making it over this very large lily pond.
Hole 14: 390 yds par 4 Dogleg left with trouble on the left, tougher than it looks
Hole 15: 550 yds par 5 # 3 handicap hole. If after watching Tiger Woods you think you learned how to hit hi a mile, go ahead because this will seem like a mile.
Hole 16: 400 yds par 4 This has all the excitement on a hole you could want. There is a big surprise once you get close to the green.
Hole 17: 192 yds par 3 Have you noticed the distances on our par 3"s, 2 large green side bunkers will add to your enjoyment.
Hole 18: 465 yds par 4 Simply put, one of the most OUTSTANDING finishing holes on any golf course you will ever play. If you walk away with a par, tip your cap, if you walk away with a bogey bow down, if you walk a way with a birdie see your minister.
Thank you for the opportunity to describe our Crown Jewel |
